Five-Star Excellence Program
Each fraternity and sorority at VCU also follows a chapter standards program, currently named the "Five-Star Excellence Program". The intent of the Five-Star Chapter program is to provide a framework by which chapters can quantify and document their activities and success while serving as a tool by which fraternities and sororities can be evaluated.
Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards
Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards are an annual event that recognizes the outstanding achievement of members in the fraternity and sorority community. The awards are designed to provide an objective assessment of a chapter's performance and to challenge each chapter to improve both programming and overall operations.
Chapters are recognized in the areas of excellence that include: scholarship, service, philanthropy, educational programming, recruitment/new member programming, risk management and overall improvement. Individual awards include fraternity man of the year, sorority woman of the year, emerging leader, outstanding chapter president for each governing council, and advisors of the year.

Policies and Procedures
In order to be recognized on campus, each chapter must fulfill the expectations outlined in the Special Provisions for the Registration of Men's And Women's Fraternities.
The office of fraternity and sorority life maintains the University hazing policy as well as recognizing international policy. No chapter, colony, student or alumnus shall conduct nor condone hazing activities, and all will support and follow the Virginia Commonwealth University Hazing Policy and FIPG Guidelines.
All other policies and procedures are implemented by the governing councils.

Fraternity & Sorority Semester Scholarship Report
The fraternity and sorority life office maintains a database of community academic reports for each semester. Fraternities and sororities were founded on the principle of successful scholarship and the VCU chapters are committed to the academic progress and achievements of all members through many different support programs.
