Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunities are provided to students at VCU and we encourage and assist students to make the most of their college experience by becoming involved with the VCU campus and the Richmond community beyond. Through personal and group involvements, the staff can help students identify programs of interest and facilitate contact with local nonprofit agencies.

Calendar of Events

A variety of volunteer experiences await VCU students in areas related to academic majors and special interests. For students with demanding and changing schedules, you can Match Your Schedule with volunteer opportunities requiring a few minutes, a day, a week, or a long-term commitments.

Find out about events using the Volunteer Opportunities calendar Service Organizations.

Service Organizations

Many of VCU's student organizations have missions based on service or have service as a component of their activities. For organizations that focus exclusively on community service click below.

Leadership Opportunities

Improve and share your leadership skills. Your help is needed to lead a group of students during community service projects. You will serve as the contact for the nonprofit agency, handle the paperwork, and ensure that all have a fun and meaningful experience, while meeting others and networking with those in your field and the community. Or enhance your resume while providing valuable feedback on volunteer programs.

Stay Informed

If you would like to receive weekly notices on upcoming community service projects, send an e-mail to Beth Ward at bhward@vcu.edu.

Volunteer Opportunity Directory

Our office maintains a Volunteer Opportunity Directory so students may research a wide array of community service options with numerous local nonprofit agencies. Visit room 018 in the Student Commons.

Community Service Sentencing Program

Individuals needing referrals due to mandates from the court system or from VCU can receive assistance and utilize our resources. Contact Beth Ward at 828-3648 or bhward@vcu.edu
